  • 2nd Monday of each month, Feb–Dec: 6pm–9pm

This is an opportunity to join others in a warm and welcoming environment to work on your textile projects. Bring along your mending, spinning, patchwork, or other hand-stitching and enjoy time set aside for making and repairing with care. These evenings offer a chance to deepen your skills, share knowledge, and get more out of the materials you already have.

Please bring a project and any materials you need, including matching thread where possible. We will provide needles, irons, scissors, some threads, and spinning tools, along with a small number of sewing machines. Please bring your own sewing machine if required.

These sessions are for people who already have some sewing or textile skills (1-on-1 tuition is not provided).

Please note: Bookings for each club night are essential, including for those who have already purchased an annual membership.

Mirabel Oliver

A longtime lover of many craft practices, Mirabel is a textile artist who studied sculpture at the University of Canterbury. In 2025 she held an exhibition in which her traditional needlework pieces plied together the daily threads of art and life. Mirabel loves the domesticity of working with wool and fabric, seeing their inherent resourcefulness and beauty as an important feature of family life. In 2026, she will be teaching drop-spindle spinning, hand darning, felt-bowl making, patchwork, and her new swiss darning workshop, as well as hosting our mending club.
