This beginner-friendly workshop will guide you through the process of carving a fundamental kitchen tool: the wooden spatula. Learn about the basic functional rules that guide spatula design, and sketch your own onto a blank sourced from sustainably grown hardwood from Banks Peninsula. Learn to work with the properties of wood grain, and how to safely use a variety of straight-knife techniques to shape your blank into a finished and functional object.
Spatula carving is an ideal first introduction to green wood carving and establishes many of the techniques used in spoon carving and beyond.
Bookings are non-refundable. If for any reason (this includes illness, travel delays, and injuries) you need to cancel your workshop, you will receive a refund minus a $30 administration fee. This is provided you contact us at least 14 full days before your booking.
