Deb Donnelly
Deb Donnelly is a Kāpiti-based interdisciplinary artist, textile designer and arts educator whose practice explores sustainable textiles, printmaking, and mindful stitching. Her work draws on colour, texture and traditional textile techniques, often transforming found and repurposed materials into contemporary textile works, which she has exhibited through galleries across Aotearoa and Asia.
Originally trained in textile design, Deb has more than 30 years’ teaching experience in schools and creative communities. She has taught indigo dyeing in Aotearoa since 2010, alongside shibori, sashiko, boro, eco-printing, drawing and design. With her Japanese heritage, Deb regularly travels to Japan to deepen her knowledge and practice of Japanese textile traditions.
Resourcefulness is central to both her art and teaching, giving vintage, found and natural textiles new life through colour, resist-dyeing and stitch.
Deb joins Resourceful Craft in Ōtautahi this October to teach Indigo Dyeing & Shibori.
