Ayumi Hirata

Growing up in Osaka, Japan, Ayumi moved to Aotearoa New Zealand in 2010. During her studies, she began exploring what it truly means to live sustainably - a journey that led her back to the centuries-old Japanese art of fabric wrapping. Ayumi now creates traditional furoshiki wrapping cloths from textiles diverted from landfill. The founder of FabWrap, Ayumi began teaching her furoshiki workshops in 2023.
