Tuesday 31 May, 6-8pm, Craft Opportunities- Basket Makers Monthly

For those of you who have attended one of our basket making workshops - come back, practice and refresh your skills!

This session with Diana Duncan, is an opportunity to enjoy basket weaving with others, at our Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre workshop, located upstairs in the former Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

We are very excited to host this regular session for those who share a love for basket weaving, are looking to enjoy time weaving together. We invite you to join us for weaving and weaving related inspiration. Bring a project to work on.
We would love to see any of your weaving experiments so please feel free to bring them along so we can learn from each other.

These sessions are available to those who have previously attended our basket weaving workshop.

Please bring with you some pre-soaked tī kōuka leaves for your work, but rest assured that we will provide enough for those of you who that will not be practical for.

Diana Duncan learnt tī kōuka string and basket making from Juliet Arnott in 2016 and joined Rekindle as a tutor in 2019. In this time Diana has explored this materials use in a myriad of ways. Having studied fashion design and worked in clothing repairs and alterations Diana has always enjoyed creative design and problem solving. Her desire to tread lightly on this earth and conserve its resources has found a natural fit with this locally abundant and durable material. She has also worked with willow and is eager to deepen her weaving knowledge experience.
