Tuesday 10 July, 9am–12pm, Harekeke weaving for youngsters, The Arts Centre (Pūmanawa Gallery, upstairs in the Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard)

There are 6 places available. Each child/young person must be accompanied by an adult.

During this workshop Benita Wakefield (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Kere, Ngāti Irakehu) will share her love of harakeke weaving or raranga.

Benita will introduce this beautiful resourceful craft, and share some beginners projects to suit youngsters. Depending on the skills within the group, Benita may teach the making of a headband/bookmark, woven fish, flowers, or a two-corner kono or basket.

Please bring a pair of scissors, and wear comfortable clothes for working in. This workshop is held in the Pūmanawa Gallery which is located upstairs in the Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

Huge thanks to  The Arts Centre for subsidising these workshops and enabling us to share the wonderful experience of greenwood-working. A big thank you to Life in Vacant Spaces for helping us with the venue.
