Sunday 19 June, 10am-4pm, Felt-slipper making

Come along and learn how to make your own felt slippers with Simone Bensdorp in a class held at our Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre workshop, located upstairs in the former Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

In this workshop Simone Bensdorp will teach you how to make felt slippers using natural, undyed, New Zealand wool and traditional felting techniques. Wool felt-making is the oldest known way to make fabric, simply by combining wool, soap and water. This handmade product requires no fancy machines or chemicals, it is a simple practice that anyone can learn and use to make their own clothing.

You will design and make your own slippers to fit your feet and leave with the skills to continue felting at home. Please bring 2 towels and a bar of soap, all other materials will be provided.

This is a one day course (we will take a break for lunch), so please bring any water and snacks/meals you may need.

Please note: This workshop is for adults only please, as it is not suitable for children.

Minimum numbers are required for the class to run.

Masks are required for this workshop.
