Summer holidays workshop for keen young woodworkers 15th-19th January 2018

At Rekindle's Resourceful Ōtautahi workshop at the Albert Hall, Ferrymead Heritage Park, Ferrymead, Ōtautahi Christchurch.

This workshop includes 21 hours of tuition and runs across 5 days, starting with some shorter sessions, and finishing with 2 full days.

Workshop hours are:

  • Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th January 8.30am to 11.30am
  • and Thursday 18th & Friday 19th January 10am to 4pm

If you're a keen young woodworker, aged 10 and above, this gives you a unique opportunity to make a stool with traditional greenwood-working tools. 

You'll need to be accompanied by an adult for at least the first couple of sessions, please contact us to discuss any support needs :

This workshop gives skills with ancient traditional tools & techniques including axe, draw-knife, shaving horse, and you will get to learn to use the lathe to turn your stool legs etc. You'll make your own greenwood stool from beautiful locally harvested ash & elm. 

There are 6 places available in this workshop and booking is essential, and non-refundable. This course will need to be fully booked to go ahead.

The price covers a portion of the: tutor's wage, workshop rent, materials & the labour to collect them, tools & their maintenance, electricity, insurance & other overheads. We are working to keep workshop prices as low as we possibly can.
