This class with Sonia Barrish takes place in our workshop at the Arts Centre, which is located upstairs in the Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.
In this workshop you’ll learn how to make your own cleaning products, suitable for cleaning the whole house. These are resourceful skills that you can apply at home for the rest of your life!
The products you will make are safe for septic tanks, babies and pets. We’ll discuss which ingredients are suitable, and what they contribute to the product in question. Plus, you’ll get to go home with your own laundry powder, spray cleaner, cream cleaner and toilet cleaner.
If you have these to hand, please bring the following (please do not go out and buy them, if you do not have them we will have some on offer):
About your tutor Sonia Barrish
Sonia has a passion for living simply and sustainably. She enjoys and respects nature’s bounty and believes in making use of what can be found in nature to fulfil our everyday needs. Much of what she has learnt has been self-taught through extensive research, as well as trial & error. Sonia is now keen and ready to pass on this knowledge to others to enable their own sustainable lifestyle journeys.
There are minimum numbers required for this class to run.
Bookings are essential, non-refundable and non-transferable.
If attending the workshop does not feel right for you at this time (level 2), we will refund you (minus 15% for booking/wesbite costs/refund processing) or defer your booking to a later date. Refunds will not be given if participants arrive to the workshop unwell on the day, and they will be asked to leave.
We do, however, understand that things come up and try and accommodate people to the best of our ability. This can include moving people to another class or a refund - but please be aware that this is reliant on us filling the original spot. This will incur a $5 admin fee.
This is because all of our pricing, and our efforts to keep costs as low as possible while still paying the tutors a fee commensurate with their experience and allowing them to cover the costs of living, is based on running these classes with a certain number of participants.
We are grateful to be able to offer this workshop in a partially subsidised manner because of support from Creative New Zealand, and from Te Matatiki Toi Ora the Arts Centre.
Management of COVID-19 risk:
Please be assured this workshop will be managed with the utmost care in terms of risk management in relation to COVID-19. This will include: at least 1m distancing between people; hand sanitiser being provided and its regular use required (please bring your own if you have an allergy); hand washing facilities nearby; regular disinfection of shared surfaces and tools.
All participants are required to wear a face mask, unless they have medical exemption.
Participants who are unwell, or who are required to self-isolate, must not attend the workshop. Refunds will be given if participants need to miss the workshop in order to manage the risk of COVID-19, however we need to be advised of this as soon as possible, so that we can fill the space. Refunds will not be given if participants arrive to the workshop unwell on the day, and they will be asked to leave.
