Saturday 26 June, 4.30-6.30pm, Hand-darning

This workshop is held in our Arts Centre workshop, which is located upstairs in the Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

Learning how to darn and repair your clothing makes them last longer and age beautifully. It also grows your connection to your clothes through time spent carefully appreciating its structure.

This workshop by Steven Park of 6x4 is a beautiful opportunity to re-engage with ancient art of clothing repair through darning.

Bring an item of clothing made from woven fabric or knit fabric for mending and matching thread if you have it. This technique can be applied to socks, but is different to Swiss darning which involves re-knitting them.

This is a workshop suited for adults only, no children please.

Bookings are essential, non-refundable and non-transferable. We do, however, understand that things come up and try and accommodate people to the best of our ability. This can include moving people to another class or a refund - but please be aware that this is reliant on us filling the original spot.

This is because all of our pricing, and our efforts to keep costs as low as possible while still paying the tutors a fee commensurate with their experience and allowing them to cover the costs of living, is based on running these classes with a certain number of participants.

The price covers a portion of the: tutor's wage, workshop rent, materials & the labour to collect them, tools & their maintenance, electricity, insurance & other overheads. We are working to keep workshop prices as low as we possibly can.

Management of COVID-19 risk:

Participants who are unwell, or who are required to self-isolate, must not attend the workshop. Refunds will be given if participants need to miss the workshop in order to manage the risk of COVID-19, however we need to be advised of this as soon as possible, so that we can fill the space. Refunds will not be given if participants arrive to the workshop unwell on the day.
