Making T-shirt shopping bags with Sylvia Houston on Wed 14th or Fri 16th November 2018

Do you have an old T-shirt or top that you love the design of but that is just too worn to be worn? You can take it to another stage in it’s lifespan and create a useful shopping tote.

The wonderful Sylvia Houston of RAG will share with you how to reduce waste and create shopping bags from the excess T shirts we all have around.

Sylvia Houston is a self taught seamstress who established RAG - Repair Alterations Garments - a vital service to help people get more use out of the clothes that they already own. RAG came out of Sylvia’s ongoing focus on renewing old clothing through innovative design, and making use of the large quantities of offcuts that she saw being produced in the fashion industry.

Sylvia will be teaching T-shirt bags at the Gym at the Arts Centre Ōtautahi Christchurch as part of the festival on Wednesday 14th November 2018 10.30am - 1.00pm and Friday 16th November 2018 10.30am - 1.00pm

Please bring old t-shirts if possible.

This workshop is suitable for adults, and children 13 years and older with sewing experience.

Bookings are essential and non-refundable.

Huge thanks to the Arts Centre & Creative New Zealand for supporting the festival and this workshop.
