Local Materials: Making clay - a workshop with Tatyanna Meharry.
In this workshop, using locally found raw clay materials you will combine your own personal mix of clay to create and test 3 different clay body types. Through this process Tatyanna will share her knowledge of local clay, it's origin and it's qualities; this is something she has an extraordinarily beautiful & resourceful approach to.
The materials that are used in these workshops are sourced locally in West Canterbury and are made into refined ceramic materials suitable for making. This practice means that there is an integral connection between the land and how the resources are used responsibly and with understanding.
This workshop includes 2 sessions: 1-3pm Monday 12th & 1-3pm Wednesday 14th November 2018 (i.e. 4hrs total).
These workshops will run at Tatyanna's studio at 380 St Asaph Street, Ōtautahi Christchurch.
This is a workshop suited for adults only, no children please. Bookings are essential and non-refundable.
Huge thanks to the Arts Centre for supporting the festival and this workshop.
