Learn to make felt slippers using natural wool and traditional felting techniques.
Simone of Wild Felt loves that she’s working with the world’s oldest known textile, and that making felt connects her to thousands of years of human history. Simone will be sharing how to make slippers using natural, undyed, New Zealand wool and traditional felting techniques.
Wool felt making is the oldest known way to make fabric, simply by combining wool, soap and water. This handmade product requires no fancy machines or chemicals, it is a simple practice that anyone can learn and use to make their own clothing.
Simone will be teaching 2 workshops on making your own felt slippers using natural wool and traditional felting techniques on Friday 16th & Saturday 17th November 2018.
These workshops run from 10am to 4pm in the stunning old Gym building at the Arts Centre.
You will make our slippers using natural, undyed, New Zealand wool and traditional felting techniques. Wool is a sustainable and local resource, which makes a warm and durable slipper.
This is a workshop suited for adults only, no children please. Bookings are essential and non-refundable.
Huge thanks to the Arts Centre for supporting the festival and this workshop
