Wednesday 8 December, 5.30-7.30pm, Festive wreath making

This workshop takes place at Rekindle at the Arts Centre, upstairs in the Boys' High Building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

Vaccination requirement: Anyone 12 and over attending our workshops at any level of the traffic light system must be fully vaccinated. Please bring proof of vaccination (My Vaccine Pass), to show at the start of your workshop. More details about how we are creating a safe space for you in our workshops that are held within an open public setting can be found HERE.

Join Diana Duncan for this festive wreath-making workshop and learn how to make a strong and beautiful twine, which we will then transform into a wreath and decorate.

This class is suited to adults. One booking per person attending please. Minimum numbers are required for the class to run.

We will be using tī kōuka/cabbage tree leaves in this workshop as these are such an abundant and multi-purpose material that we can find all around us.

If you have access to fallen/brown tī kōuka / cabbage tree leaves, please bring in as big a bundle as you can! Please soak them first in water overnight if possible, if not longer.

The twine-making techniques taught in this workshop originate from the UK/Europe.
Tangata whenua have been weaving with tī kōuka for hundreds of years here in Aotearoa. If you are interested learning traditional Māori weaving techniques, we can recommend contacting the wonderful team at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa who teach these locally. We also recommend the amazing mahi and workshops of the Kahu Collective.

Bookings are essential, non-refundable and non-transferable.

If attending the workshop does not feel right for you at this time (level 2), we will refund you (minus 15% for booking/website costs/refund processing) or defer your booking to a later date. Refunds will not be given if participants arrive to the workshop unwell on the day, and they will be asked to leave.

We do, however, understand that things come up and try and accommodate people to the best of our ability. This can include moving people to another class or a refund - but please be aware that this is reliant on us filling the original spot. This will incur a $5 admin fee.

This is because all of our pricing, and our efforts to keep costs as low as possible while still paying the tutors a fee commensurate with their experience and allowing them to cover the costs of living, is based on running these classes with a certain number of participants.

Management of COVID-19 risk:

As we wish to operate as safely as possible, and protect the health of our communities, Rekindle will be running vaccinate mandated workshops from the implementation of the traffic light system, at all levels of the traffic light system.

This means that from Covid-19 traffic light system confirmation, anyone 12 and over attending a workshop at Rekindle must be fully vaccinated.

Mask-wearing is also a requirement at Orange & Red, and strongly encouraged at Green. Please visit our COVID policy page for more details.

Participants who are unwell, or who are required to self-isolate, must not attend the workshop. Refunds will be given if participants need to miss the workshop in order to manage the risk of COVID-19, however we need to be advised of this as soon as possible, so that we can fill the space.

Refunds will not be given if participants arrive to the workshop unwell on the day, and they will be asked to leave. Refunds will not be given to unvaccinated persons arriving at the workshop on the day, and they will be asked to leave

We are grateful to be able to offer this workshop in a partially subsidised manner because of support from Creative New Zealand, and from Te Matatiki Toi Ora the Arts Centre.
