Learn how to weave a small konae (square woven bag) using Māori techniques and the natural material of harakeke with local kairaranga Ngaio Cowell. Ngaio will also share about the processes and tikanga that need to be observed when harvesting harakeke. This will be a relaxed workshop where you can work individually or with others. In this workshop you will get the opportunity to customise your konae, by braiding a whiri strap at your length of choice for the bag.
Please note, there are limited spaces for this workshop, so please only book if you are sure you can make it on the day. This is usually a 3 hour workshop, but depending on the group it can sometimes take longer. Please make sure you have a spare hour afterwards for if you need to stay on to finish.
Bookings are Non-refundable
