This workshop is held at the Okains Bay Māori and Colonial Museum on Waitangi Day.
No bookings can be made for this drop-in class - this operates on a first in, first served basis!
In this rolling and drop-in mat class, 6 youngsters are invited to participate at a time to help weave a mat from ti kōuka cabbage tree leaves.
We will change over participants every fifteen minutes. So come along, learn a new skill and contribute to this collective mat-making experience!
Please note that the workshop price does not include the $10 entry fee for adults to the museum (children $2, pre-schoolers are free). Please bring cash and please also note that this is the museum’s key fundraising day, so do come along and support them!
We are honoured to be taking part in Waitangi Day commemorations at Okains Bay on 6 February 2020. As part of this, we have been invited to present some workshops at the wonderful Okains Bay Māori and Colonial Museum.
We encourage koha to be made directly to the museum for this free class that Rekindle is offering.
