Sunday 30 June, 1-5pm, Free raranga for adults for Matariki

Rekindle is grateful for the support of CCC's Enliven Places Fund, which has allowed us to offer this class free of charge to the public. We also wish to thank the Arts Centre for their support of the Matariki programme.

This workshop is held in The Arts Centre’s Maker Workshop, which is located downstairs in the School of Art Building at 1 Hereford Street (corner of Hereford Street and Rolleston Avenue).

During this workshop, Tracey-Anne Cook will share her love of harakeke weaving or raranga. They will introduce this beautiful resourceful craft, and teach the group how to make a four-cornered kono or basket.

Please bring a pair of scissors, and wear comfortable clothes for working in.

Bookings are essential. This workshop is wheelchair accessible.

Tracey-Anne Cook has been weaving for many years informally but in 2012 enrolled with Te Wananga o Āotearoa for their raranga (weaving) courses.  She emerged with a level 5 equivalency certificate of achievement and continues to support and work with the Wānanga. She is also a member of the Ōtautahi Weavers group who meet regularly through the year to work on projects as a group and individually. Last year she took part in Rekindle's inaugural Necessary Traditions.
