Saturday 20 October, 10am to 3pm - Make an Eating Spoon for Eating Local @FESTA

Saturday 20 October 10am to 3pm - Make an Eating Spoon for Eating Local @FESTA 2018 at The Arts Centre

As part of FESTA 2018, we are running this class in our workshop at The Arts Centre, which located upstairs in the Boys' High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

Come along and learn how to make a spoon! Carve your own eating spoon as reminder that we can create what we need from what we have. The question is, will you take up the challenge to dedicate this spoon to eating only local food?

You will learn basic whittling techniques with a straight & curved whittling knives, and learn all about the ancient traditions of greenwood-working.

Please note: This workshop is only suited to those who can work safely without direct supervision with very sharp hand tools. The image below shows the kinds of tools we’ll be using.

There are 6 places available in this workshop and booking is essential, and non-refundable.

The price covers a portion of the: tutor's wage, workshop rent, materials & the labour to collect them, tools & their maintenance, electricity, insurance & other overheads. We are working to keep workshop prices as low as we possibly can.
