Thursday 23 June 10.30am-12.30pm, Craft Opportunities: Carve a spatula (beginners)

Come along and learn how to carve a spatula with Simone Bensdorp in a class held at our Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre workshop, located upstairs in the former Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.

This workshop is free/low-cost for Community Service Card holders, though donations are appreciated. The standard workshop price of $48 applies for those without cards. Please select the appropriate option at the bottom of the page. 

There are very limited places in these workshops, so please only book if you are sure you can make it on the day.

An introduction to basic whittling and safe knife techniques for beginners. Design and make a simple spatula for your kitchen.

Please note: This workshop is for adults and only suited to those who can work safely without direct supervision with very sharp hand tools. 

Minimum numbers are required for the class to run.

Simone Bensdorp is a textile artist and teacher with a passion for sustainability and creativity. Her work is grounded by a philosophy of resourcefulness, using local, repurposed and sustainable materials wherever possible. She is committed to keeping traditional felt making skills alive, while continuing to expand and push boundaries with contemporary techniques.

Simone's workshops aim to equip people with practical skills, whilst providing a safe space for creative expression and learning. She loves sharing the knowledge of traditional crafts, and the inevitable stories, laughter and connections that come with it.

 

Bookings are non-refundable 

A credit may be issued if you are unable to attend due to illness or COVID isolation and advise Rekindle as soon as possible, prior to your workshop. A transfer fee may apply.

Credits will not be issued with less than 24 hours notice given.
