In this youngsters workshop, you will learn to create a simple flower in a koru design with local kairaranga Ngaio Cowell. You'll also learn how to use a repurposed pasta machine to make harakeke ribbon. A wonderful beginner workshops for those that have never worked with harakeke before. Tamariki are welcome with whānau support.
Please note: Children aged 7-9 years may attend with an adult to support them. Children aged 10 years and over can attend on their own. Please come in to speak with the tutor at the start and leave an emergency contact number, and return prior to the end time of the workshop to collect them.

Why?
Ngaio Cowell (Tainui; Ngaati Te Ata & Ngāti Porou) is a craftsperson who takes inspiration from nature. Ngaio is currently continuing to develop her raranga skills through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. She has learnt to weave with tī kōuka from Diana Duncan and continues to create artworks from foraged and native materials through business Tipu Toi. Ngaio is passionate about Kai sovereignty and will be teaching as part of our Resourceful Kai Programme.
